Best RVs for Full Time Living | Luxury 5th Wheels & Motorhomes

Making the switch to Full-Time RVing is a lifestyle revolution. Whether you are chasing 70-degree weather, working remotely from the road, or setting up a permanent summer residence, your RV needs to be more than a camper—it needs to be a Home.

Unlike weekend units, "Full-Time" capable RVs are engineered for daily use. They feature residential construction (thicker walls, higher insulation values), household appliances (residential refrigerators, dishwashers), and critical amenities like Stackable Washer/Dryer Prep and massive wardrobe storage. The inventory below features the elite "Estate Class" models from Jayco, Keystone, and Entegra Coach designed to replace your mortgage with freedom.

The "Big Three" for Full-Timers

At RV Canada, we help hundreds of families transition to full-time living. Almost all of them choose one of these three categories:

  • The Luxury Fifth Wheel: This is the most popular choice.

    • Why: It offers the highest ceilings (often 8+ feet), the most storage (huge pass-through basements), and the most stable towing experience. Models like the Jayco Pinnacle are literally built to be 400-square-foot condos.

  • The Diesel Pusher (Class A): For those who want to travel often.

    • Why: If you plan to move every few days, a motorhome is superior. You simply retract the slides and drive. The air-ride suspension makes for a smoother travel day than a truck-and-trailer setup.

  • The Destination Trailer: For the "Stationary" full-timer.

    • Why: If you are parking on a seasonal lot or private land for months at a time, these units offer sliding glass patio doors, residential toilets (no foot pedals!), and house-sized appliances.

Must-Have Residential Features

If you are living in it 365 days a year, you cannot compromise on these features:

  • Laundry Prep: Laundromats get expensive and inconvenient. Ensure your unit has a closet prepped for a Stackable Washer/Dryer (or a combo unit).

  • Insulation (R-Value): In Canada, "3-Season" doesn't cut it. You need a unit with R-30 to R-45 floors and roofs to keep heat in during winter and (crucially) heat out during summer.

  • Storage: Look for a "Walk-In Closet" in the master bedroom and a large pantry in the kitchen. You need space for winter coats, brooms, and bulk groceries.

The "Wide Body" Advantage

Standard RVs are 96 inches wide. Full-Time luxury units are often 100 to 102 inches wide.

  • That extra 4–6 inches might not sound like much, but it makes a massive difference in the hallway, the bathroom, and around the kitchen island. It stops the RV from feeling "tight."

Ready to Sell the House?

  • Check the GVWR: Full-time rigs are heavy. If choosing a Fifth Wheel, you likely need a 1-Ton Dually Truck. Do not attempt to tow a luxury home with a single-rear-wheel truck without verifying payload first.

  • Measure for Parking: These units are big (often 13'6" tall). Ensure your route and campsite can handle the height.

  • Filter for Space: Use the filters above to look for "4 Slides" or "Front Living" layouts to see the most spacious options available.
