Why it matters: Towing generates massive heat in the transmission. Without the cooler, your towing capacity may be significantly reduced (often to 2,000 lbs or less) or you risk overheating the vehicle on steep grades.
The 10-Speed Era: Modern Odysseys (2018+) come with a robust 10-speed automatic. While these are tougher than previous generations, Honda still recommends the official Trailer Hitch Accessory Package (which often includes the cooler) to maintain your warranty and performance.
